Sekinchan, which literally means “village suitable for plantation” in Chinese, lives up to its name as the town is the rice bowl of Selangor. Large plots of land are cultivated to produce the staple rice supply of Malaysians. This area is well-known for its high yield of rice and mechanised farming methods.

The broad view of Paddy Field (Padi Field) in Sekinchan ( Sekinchan Paddy Field) show different perspective and feeling in different months. March and September are the rice transplanting period, and the view of the paddy field (padi field) is green. During the harvest season, in June and December, the paddy field (padi field) looks golden yellow colour.

We can drive right beside the paddy fields. There have a few roads connecting to the small village located (Site A) in the centre of the Sekinchan paddy fields (padi field). Along the way, you will see water path (aqueduct), few little bridges, birds, birds’ house, farmers and their giant machine.

Riding on a bicycle across thousands of acres paddy field is a perfect activities to explore the beautiful of Sekinchan. One of the popular bicycle rental shops is AMG Bicycle Rental, this uniquely decorated shop is located next to Sekinchan traditional market.

There are a lot of rice mill factories in Sekinchan, one of the popular rice mill factories open for the visit is PLS Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd (林贸易), and there are rice market and Paddy Gallery inside the factory. We can learn about the paddy plantation and processing in the Paddy Gallery. 

With the wide paddy fields (padi field) covering almost the entire landscape of Sekinchan, there are opportunities for the exciting activity of eel-fishing. During the time paddy fields are being harvested, the water level is lowered, this is the best time for eel-fishing. Eel-fishing is a common activity among the locals in Sekinchan during the paddy harvesting season.
